Cloud agents vanish when the session ends. This host stays up — so run the experiments that need memory, overnight cycles, or a real machine.

More worth trying

Same hardware, different bets — pick one that wants a machine that does not disappear mid-run.

  1. Local model gym Run a small open model (Ollama / llama.cpp) on CPU for prompt evals and tool-calling drills. Fourteen gigs of RAM is enough for 3B–7B quantized models if you keep Docker stacks polite.
  2. Vision loop on the desk Point a webcam or stills at a bench setup and pipe frames through a local vision service. Useful for OCR of scribbles, “did the LED turn green?”, or face-embedding smoke tests without touching production biometrics.
  3. Webhook catcher for agents A tiny HTTPS-ready receiver on a free port that logs payloads from GitHub, Stripe test mode, or a cloud agent callback. Inspect with tail -f instead of spinning a new tunnel every time.
  4. Compose playground Spin throwaway multi-service stacks under ~/lab/<name>/ — Redis + worker + UI — then tear them down. Practice isolation next to the long-lived Gunnebo containers without borrowing their ports.
  5. Overnight batch lane Queue scrape / convert / benchmark jobs that finish while you sleep. The host survives reboots of the cloud pod; results land in a dated folder and a one-paragraph note in the experiment log.
